With the rise of "fast fashion" in recent years, we are buying more clothes than ever and, therefore, we have more waste textiles than ever. It is estimated that more than 1 million tonnes of textiles are thrown away every year in the UK, and at least 50% of the fabrics we throw away are recyclable. It's not just the amount of textiles being sent to landfill that is the issue but also the increased use of raw materials to produce the clothes.
